7 Ways to Pitch Your Case Studies for PR
I’m all about case studies, hence, there are few things better than a case study about case studies.
A great one recently came across my Twitter stream: “How software company used case studies to land leads.” The BtoBOnline.com story highlights how a company named StudioGPU devised a case study strategy for lead generation. (Highly recommend you check it out.)
While many think of case studies as a tool just for later in the sales cycle, StudioGPU proves otherwise. The company actively works to place its customer case studies in key industry publications and sites in order to drive fresh prospects to its site.
Customer stories are some of the most attractive content to editors – way more than a staid press release about a product launch.
Let’s revisit the “Seven Ways to Slice a Customer Story” that PR firm Tech Image provided for my book (p. 195).

With each case study, evaluate the best media for your industry and audience, and study how that publication operates. Do they run contributed stories or write everything with their staff writers?
Know before you pitch and you’ll get a lot more interest and respect from editors – and hopefully, some awesome PR and site traffic.
